Magnetic Carriage House decorative garage door hardware is gaining traction due to simplicity, ease of installation, and the fact you do not have to drill holes in your expensive garage door. The use of decorative garage door hardware is on the rise given the popularity of Carriage House garage doors, which now make up for more than 35% of all new garage door sales.

Magnetic decorative hardware offers the flexibility of being able to remove the hardware at a later date if you decide you want to change the look of your garage door. Just like that – you will be able to see what your door looks like with decorative hardware without having to drill holes in the garage door in case you change your mind. Traditional garage door hardware attached with screws do not offer this option.

Cre8tive Hardware manufacturers a few different styles which includes Traditional Spear Hardware, Rustic Hardware with Clavos and Hammered Finish, and Rustic Ring Pull Handles and Hinges. All three designs include rare earth, neodymium magnets for strong and secure attachment to steel garage doors. The magnetic hardware requires minimal measuring and no drilling, allowing for a quick and easy installation.

The hardware has passed stringent 2,000 hour color fade and weather ability testing and offers resistance to discoloration or door staining. A 1-year full replacement warranty in the event of manufacturing defects, color fade or premature weathering is available with Cre8tive Hardware.

Say Goodbye to Rusty Metal Hardware

Decorative metal garage door hardware does not hold up well in hot climates. After a few years, the paint will start to flake off, most likely due to the black hardware getting so hot from the sun. What you’re left with is rusty metal hardware that needs to be removed and repainted.

If you are in this situation and intend to repaint the hardware, purchase high heat black spray paint. High heat spray paint is designed to be used on metal that will be subject to higher than normal heat ranges. Your hardware will most likely be exposed to direct sun, so this will help prolong the life and give your garage door a fresh look.

Can I Install on a Traditional Garage Door?

Decorative hardware has always been designed to be installed on a Carriage House style garage door. Carriage House garage doors have the correct spacing in between the stamped sections to accommodate hardware, so it fits properly on the sections. With that being said, many homeowners will install decorative hardware on traditional garage doors.

Does the Magnetic Hardware Move?

Yes and no. We tested this hardware on a couple of homes about a year before we ever started using it and never had any complaints of the hardware moving. The rare earth magnets are strong. We have sold and installed hundreds of sets of magnetic hardware and never had a phone call from a client who wasn’t happy with the product.

Can I Permanently Attach the Hardware?

Yes. If you find your kids are messing with the hardware, you can purchase black screws from your local home store and permanently attach the hardware to your garage door. Installation is easier than with standard metal hardware because the magnets will hold the hardware in place and perfectly positioned while you drill the holes.

Conclusion

There are different brands of magnetic garage door hardware available today. We have purchased many types over the years, and few have impressed us as much as the offerings from Cre8tive Hardware. They haven’t cut corners on the material or the magnets they use. Their magnetic hardware is rigid with rare-earth magnets vs. the flimsy alternatives that feature weaker magnets that will fail over time. You might find cheaper alternatives, but the price will be reflected in the quality of product you receive.
